About the Artist
Hello, and thank you so very much for stopping by! Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Ashley and well, here's the story of how I started painting...
It all started about two years ago, my family and I were in the mists of a really rough storm. I had miscarried, and then within that same week I was informed that I had cancerous cells within my cervix that needed to be removed immediately.
I had a minor surgery that went well, I get a pap more regularly now, and am under close watch by my OBGYN. We moved forward, but my body never seemed to fully recover.
For reasons unknown to me, I have aches, pains, fatigue, and an entire heaping list of odd and difficult to explain symptoms. Something they call Fibromyalgia. It is by far the biggest obstacle in my life.
Prior to being diagnosed, I was a manager and bartender of a sports bar. Basically my entire working life up until then I had been working in either a restaurant, bar, or lounge. Always active.
Being unable to work, (or very little) due to the fibro, doctor appointments, and physical therapy I found myself becoming depressed causing my symptoms to flair. I needed to do something, I decided to give Art a go.
I was actually inspired to begin painting by my Grandmother. She first picked up her paint brush at 75 years young. So I am grateful that she was able to help me out ever so much!
I've always been a lover of the arts in general. Always in awe of painters, crafters, poets, actors, and people with natural talent to draw.
That said, I pretty much dove right in! I started with some basic supplies and practiced on mixed media paper. After I felt comfortable enough I moved onto canvas, and now here I am. I paint as much as I can. In a way painting is it's own kind of therapy for me.
Thank you for letting me share my art and my story with you. If you see something that catches your eye but is not for sale please contact me. I would be happy to custom design a piece for you.
Sincerely,
Ashley Starr
